Fubara Submits 2026-2028 Expenditure Framework to Assembly

On Thursday morning, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara submitted the 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework to the Rivers Assembly. Speaker Martin Amaewhul confirmed the receipt of the document during an emergency plenary session.

However, the Assembly later decided to defer the debate on the framework to a later date. The Assembly had not convened for four months prior to this session, with the last meeting occurring in February when they screened nominees forwarded by the governor.

The Assembly had adjourned sine die and was scheduled to reconvene on January 8, 2026, following an impeachment initiative against Fubara, which subsequently failed to resume as planned on February 15.
