Duke: Nigeria's Petrol Could Cost N200 with Proper Management

Donald Duke, the former governor of Cross River State and presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), asserted that petrol in Nigeria could be sold for N200 per litre if the country effectively utilized its energy resources. Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Duke described the ongoing fuel subsidy controversy involving President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi as unnecessary.

He argued that the notion of a fuel subsidy is a scam, emphasizing that Nigeria, despite being energy-rich, remains energy-poor due to a lack of political will and poor economic management. Duke highlighted that Nigeria flares two billion cubic feet of gas daily, which could be converted into significant diesel resources.

He criticized the reliance on international prices to justify local hardship, advocating for the exploitation of Nigeria’s comparative advantages in energy production.
