Gombe Governor Launches Anti-Terror Campaign for Unity

On [date not specified], Governor Yahaya of Gombe State launched an anti-terror campaign, urging unity among residents to combat insecurity, which he described as the greatest threat to stability and development in Northern Nigeria. He stressed the inseparable link between security and development, asserting that neither can be achieved without the other.

As the chairman of the Northern State Governor Forum, he paid tribute to national security agencies, including the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, acknowledging their sacrifices in the face of danger. Governor Yahaya noted that despite Gombe being located in the Northeast region affected by insecurity, the state remains relatively peaceful due to deliberate policies and strategic investments since he assumed office in 2019.

He highlighted the creation of the state’s first Ministry of Internal Security and the establishment of the Gombe State Security Traffic Environment Corps (GOSTEC) to improve security coordination. He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organizations, women's groups, and youth organizations to promote peace and urged residents to remain security-conscious.
