Ogun Governor Orders Probe into Ajuwon Building Collapse

Governor Dapo Abiodun has mandated a comprehensive technical investigation into the collapse of a two-storey building located at Baale Road, Ajuwon, in Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State. The incident, which occurred on Monday afternoon following a severe thunderstorm, resulted in one fatality, while several occupants managed to escape.

Preliminary findings from a multi-agency investigation team indicated a catastrophic structural failure, with the lower floors sinking into the ground. Eyewitnesses reported that the collapse happened around 3:00 p.m., shortly after intense thunderstorms and a lightning strike.

Emergency responders, including officials from the Ogun State Safety Office and the Nigeria Police Force, mobilized to the scene for search-and-rescue operations. Although initial searches did not find victims, traces of blood led to a controlled excavation, resulting in the recovery of one deceased individual.

Governor Abiodun expressed condolences and directed relevant agencies to assess the collapsed structure and inspect nearby buildings for safety.
