Gombe Assembly Site Collapse Claims One Life, Injures Seven

On Friday, a section of the construction site for the new Gombe State House Assembly complex collapsed, leading to the death of one worker and injuring seven others. The Gombe State Government, led by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, confirmed that eight workers were involved in the incident.

Seven injured workers were promptly evacuated for medical treatment, with five receiving care at the Gombe State Specialist Hospital and two at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe. The government expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and committed to providing comprehensive medical care for the injured workers at the state's expense.

Governor Yahaya directed the Ministry of Works and Transport, alongside relevant regulatory agencies, to establish safety protocols immediately. The contractor responsible for the project has been instructed to submit a formal incident report within 24 hours, following a preliminary investigation.

The government aims to determine the facts surrounding the incident to guide necessary actions and ensure adherence to safety and engineering standards in public infrastructure projects.
