ALGON and Imol Council Reject NURTW Suspension in Osun

The ALGON Osun State chapter, led by Chairman Otunba Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotund, has rejected the purported suspension of activities by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun State. In a statement issued on Monday, Awotund described the suspension as illegal and unconstitutional, asserting that individuals claiming to represent ALGON lack the authority to issue such directives.

He emphasized that no local government chairmen are unlawfully occupying council secretariats and that the NURTW's activities fall under the statutory responsibilities of the Osun State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, not local government chairmen. The Imol Campaign Council also condemned the suspension, alleging it was part of a broader plan by the APC to influence the upcoming governorship election through intimidation.

They called for security agencies to uphold the rule of law and ensure a peaceful electoral process, urging voters not to be discouraged by attempts to create fear.
