Osun APC Supports ALGON's Suspension of Transport Union

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defended the suspension of the transport union by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), describing it as a proactive step aimed at addressing recurring violence and improving public safety. The statement, issued on Tuesday by APC's Director of Media, Kola Olabisi, emphasized the need for local government authorities to protect lives and property.

The APC's announcement was reflected by ALGON's Vice Chairman, Lanr Balogun, who stated that the suspension intends to reduce extrajudicial killings and restore order in public motor parks pending further security measures. The APC accused the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of failing to adequately respond to security concerns and alleged that certain transport union officials are politically appointed within the Adeleke administration, which could harbor dangerous elements.

The APC urged critics of the suspension to examine constitutional provisions related to local government responsibilities.
