Governor Yusuf Regulates Sand Mining Near Water Plants

On Tuesday, during an inspection visit to the Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant as part of a statewide tour of water facilities, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State directed the Ministry of Water Resources to take immediate action to regulate sand mining activities around water treatment plants. This directive aims to protect critical water infrastructure and ensure a steady supply of clean water to residents.

Governor Yusuf expressed concern over the growing activities of sand miners near water treatment facilities, warning that unregulated sand mining poses a serious threat to the smooth operation of water treatment plants. He emphasized the need for quick action to safeguard these facilities for the benefit of the people.

The governor urged the Ministry to strengthen monitoring and enforcement measures to prevent sand mining from damaging water sources and interfering with the treatment process. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving access to potable water across Kano State and called on stakeholders to cooperate with the government in safeguarding public utilities.
