ICPC and Power Ministry Collaborate for Accountability

On July 13, 2023, Olasunkani Tegb, the Honourable Minister of Power, visited the headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) in Abuja to discuss issues affecting the power sector. During this visit, he emphasized the ongoing efforts to deliver visible improvements in electricity supply by the end of the year, noting the impact of electricity on all citizens.

Tegb acknowledged that electricity is no longer free and that someone must bear the cost, pledging to protect vulnerable groups and ensure equitable access. He highlighted that 30 percent of challenges in the sector are linked to vandalism and sought ICPC's guidance in tackling corruption.

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, the ICPC Chairman, and Mr. Clifford Okwudili Oparaodu, the ICPC Secretary, commended the Ministry for recognizing ICPC as a strategic partner in addressing long-standing electricity challenges. They expressed confidence that improvements in electricity supply would stimulate industry, create jobs, and accelerate economic growth.
