Titi Adeleke Leads Protest for Peaceful Elections in Osun

On Monday, Mrs. Titi Adeleke, the wife of the Osun State Governor, led a protest to the Osun State Police Headquarters, advocating for an end to political violence in the state. The protest, primarily composed of women carrying placards, aimed to demand a peaceful, free, and fair election scheduled for Saturday.

Mrs. Adeleke expressed concerns over recent political arrests, including that of the Commissioner for Environment, urging authorities to refrain from targeting their leaders. Samuel Erale Etaifo, the Commissioner of Police deployed for the election, addressed the protesters, emphasizing the police's commitment to ensuring a credible election and maintaining peace.

He acknowledged the heightened tension in the state and noted that the Inspector General of Police had directed him to stabilize the environment for the elections. Etaifo encouraged the protesters to return peacefully, assuring them of police support to ensure their safety.
