Security Forces Commended for Anti-Terror Success in Nigeria

Civil Society Organizations praised Nigerian security forces and National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for their successful anti-terror operations conducted throughout May 2026. The operations led to the elimination of 317 terrorists, the rescue of 221 kidnap victims, and the arrest of 314 suspects.

Additionally, 93 assorted weapons were recovered, and 18 terrorists surrendered. The operations also included the destruction of three illegal refining sites and the recovery of 21,910 liters of stolen petroleum products.

Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, reported these achievements, which reflect the growing effectiveness of Nigeria's security architecture under the current administration. The operations spanned various regions, including the neutralization of 73 insurgents in the North East and the dismantling of illegal arms manufacturing facilities in Plateau State.

The group urged security agencies to sustain their efforts against terrorism and kidnapping, while also expressing concern over recent abductions in Oyo State.
