Justice Demanded for Gang-Raped Student in Ijebu Ode

The Safer Society Children Foundation and the Ijebu Ode Group have called for justice for a female student reportedly gang-raped by four suspects in Ijebu Ode. The petition, made available to journalists on March 22, criticizes the police for failing to provide adequate protection for the victim, instead exposing her to further harm and humiliation.

The petition alleges that the police at Igbeba Police Station breached confidentiality by disclosing the victim's address, allowing the suspects' parents to intimidate and bribe the family into silence. The group demands an immediate investigation and prosecution of the alleged rapists: Kalu, Prosper, Och, Destini, Adamu, Paul, Adewusi, and Qudu, as well as corrupt police personnel at the Igbeba division.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and emphasized the commitment to a thorough investigation, including medical examinations and evidence collection, while prioritizing the victim's safety and dignity.
