Group Warns NUPENG Against Destabilizing Nigeria

The Mass Action Economic Saboteurs (MAAES) group has warned the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) against destabilizing Nigeria over a union dispute at the Dangote Refinery. The MAAES accused NUPENG of threatening a nationwide strike, which could plunge the country into crisis.

NUPENG's dispute with Dangote Petroleum Refinery involves the deployment of compressed natural gas trucks for fuel distribution. The MAAES criticized NUPENG for allegedly holding Nigeria hostage under the guise of defending workers' rights, emphasizing that union membership should be a personal choice.

The Supreme Court has affirmed the right of individual workers not to be forced to join a union.
