Gumi Sues Idris Over Defamation Claims Regarding Wife

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, has initiated legal proceedings against Nasir Musa Idris, who publicly accused him of taking his Moroccan wife. Gumi announced the lawsuit on his social media page following the circulation of a video featuring the woman, who stated she was in Morocco and safe, directly contradicting Idris's claims that she was with Gumi.

Gumi opted for a court resolution instead of engaging in public discourse, indicating his desire for formal accountability regarding what he termed damaging and false allegations against his character. Idris alleged that his wife had been in Gumi's custody for approximately 11 months after he sought the cleric's counseling.

Gumi's representatives denied these allegations, and he confirmed his intention to sue Idris for defamation, as indicated in his Facebook post titled "Libel and Defamation by Nasir Musa Idris.".
