Gunmen Abduct Businessman, Injure Girl in Oyo Attack

On May 11, 2026, Alhaji Wasiu Aleshiny was abducted at gunpoint by three unidentified armed men in Irawo, Atisbo Local Government Area, Oyo State. The attack occurred around 10:20 PM as Aleshiny was reportedly trailed from Kraal Market to a filling station and subsequently to his residence.

During the incident, a 10-year-old girl sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment, where medical staff extracted a pellet from her injury. Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanladi confirmed the incident and stated that preliminary investigations revealed the recovery of three spent shell casings, which are undergoing ballistic examination.

Forensic investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to rescue the victim unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators. This incident follows a recent case in which a 60-year-old trader was abducted in the Monatan area of Lagelu Local Government Area.
