Gunmen Kill 82-Year-Old and Youth in Plateau Attacks

In Plateau State, gunmen killed two individuals, including 82-year-old Demi Duda and 19-year-old Emmanuel Ching, in separate attacks within Irigw Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government Area. The attacks occurred between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM on Monday.

Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, the National Public Secretary of the Irigw Youth Movement, confirmed the incidents in a statement issued on Monday. The attacks have raised significant concerns regarding the deteriorating security situation in the Irigw Chiefdom, with residents expressing fears over repeated assaults that threaten lives and destroy farmland, exacerbating economic hardships.

The group has called on government security agencies to take urgent action to protect the community and end the recurring violence. Additionally, they appealed for Nigerian support to address the insecurity affecting the Irigw land in Plateau State.

Efforts to reach the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfr Alabo, for comments were unsuccessful.
