NOUN Bursar Nasiru Marafa Shot Dead in Zamfara

Nasiru Marafa, the Bursar of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), was reportedly shot dead in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State. The university confirmed his death in an official notice signed by its Registrar and Secretary to Council, Oladipo Ajayi, on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

Marafa was shot while returning from Gusau, although specific details surrounding the incident were not disclosed. The university expressed deep sorrow over his sudden and untimely passing, describing him as a dedicated and committed staff member who had served the institution in various capacities.
