NOUN Appoints Ramatu Ibrahim as Acting Bursar

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) appointed Mrs Ramatu Ibrahim as the acting bursar after the death of the substantive bursar, Mallam Nasir G. Marafa, who was shot by gunmen while traveling to Abuja.

The appointment, effective from Tuesday, September 8, 2026, was approved by Vice-Chancellor Professor Uduma Oji Uduma and concurred by Pro-Chancellor Malam Isa Yuguda. The announcement was made by the university's Registrar, Mr Oladipo Ajayi.

This decision is intended to maintain continuity, stability, and effective leadership in the university's financial administration during a critical time. The university management praised the late Mallam Marafa for his dedication and professionalism, noting his significant contributions to NOUN's financial administration.

Mrs Ibrahim, previously the deputy bursar in the treasury department, is recognized for her extensive experience in university financial operations, having provided leadership and oversight in various operational units.
