Bandits Attack Rector's Residence in Zamfara, Kill Guard
On Tuesday at approximately 1:00 a.m., bandits attacked the residence of a rector in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State. During the assault, the rector managed to escape with his wife and daughter by scaling the perimeter fence, sustaining a dislocated leg in the process.
Isah Yankaba, the rector’s security guard, was killed during the attack. A resident attended his funeral prayer in his hometown, Yankaba.
Following the initial attack, the bandits moved to Hayin Baguso, where they abducted the wife and daughter of a resident identified as Ibrahim. They also attempted to invade the home of a petroleum dealer, Salisu Azaria, but retreated when security personnel arrived.
The bandits later abducted Dr. Namadina Hamza, a university lecturer, in the Low-Cost area of the town.
Attempts to get official confirmation from the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, did not respond to inquiries.
