HFN Announces 2026 Premier League and 4×4 Championship

The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) unveiled plans for two significant competitions: the 2026 Premier League and the 4×4 Handball Championship. The announcement was made on August 4, with the 4×4 Championship scheduled to take place in Makurdi, Benue State, from June 16 to June 19, 2026.

HFN President Jibril Saidu Ojih stated that these competitions are part of a strategic initiative to attract players, fans, and sponsors to handball in Nigeria. The North Central Handball Championship will also occur in Lafia, Nasarawa State, from July 12 to July 18, 2026, concluding the domestic calendar for the sport.

Ojih described the 4×4 Championship as a fresh innovation designed to bring a different dimension to handball in Nigeria, promising an exciting event that will showcase top-class handball talent. He called on stakeholders and sports enthusiasts to support the federation's efforts, expressing confidence that 2026 will be a remarkable year for handball in Nigeria.
