New Hardship Allowance Proposed for President Tinubu

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has proposed a new remuneration package for Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, which includes a hardship allowance of N1,757,350.50 annually. This proposal was sent to President Tinubu through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The RMAFC, led by Chairman Mohammed Bello Shehu, is working on a broader salary review for ministers and other senior government officials, with the proposal completed and forwarded to the president. However, no formal announcement regarding the new remuneration structure has been made, meaning the current figures, including the president's hardship allowance, remain in effect.

The RMAFC is responsible for reviewing the remuneration of political and public office holders in Nigeria, and any changes must be approved by the commission. The pending salary review has garnered attention due to the ongoing economic hardship faced by many Nigerians, including rising food prices and fuel costs.
