HCSF Launches Mass Transit Bus Scheme for Civil Servants

On September 9, 2026, Mr. Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, inaugurated a nine-member Pilot Implementation Committee for the Renewed Hope Mass Transit Bus Scheme aimed at alleviating transportation challenges for Federal Civil Servants. This initiative, supported by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, involves the provision of 100 electric mass transit buses, with a pilot phase commencing with 10 buses on selected routes.

The HCSF emphasized the importance of urgency, transparency, innovation, and accountability in the implementation process. The Committee, chaired by Dr. Abdul Sule Garba, includes members from various sectors, tasked with developing an implementation framework, establishing a transparent enrolment and payment system, and ensuring safety and accessibility for all users, including persons living with disabilities.

The electric buses were launched on August 26, 2026, setting the stage for this pilot phase, which aims to create a sustainable transportation model for Federal Civil Servants.
