Violence Erupts at PDP Congress in Oyo State, 25 Injured

On Saturday, during a local government congress of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, violence erupted, leading to an attack on the residence of former Deputy Governor Hazim Gbolarumi located in the Bodija area of Ibadan North. The incident reportedly left 25 individuals injured and resulted in extensive property damage across various local government areas, including Ibadan North, Ido, Ibarapa Central, and Ogbomoso North.

The violence is attributed to the ongoing factional divisions within the PDP, with one faction loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde and another aligned with Nyesom Wike. Abdulrahman Akinoso, the chairman of the Wike-led faction in Oyo State, confirmed the attack, alleging that thugs roamed the state attacking people.

Olayinka Ayanlad, spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, confirmed that the police received reports of the attack and that the State Commissioner of Police ordered arrests in response to the violence.
