Thugs Attack PDP Local Government Congresses in Oyo

On a Saturday, political thugs attacked local government congresses of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, which were organized by two factions loyal to Nyesom Wike and the state governor, Seyi Makinde. The incidents occurred across various local governments, including Ibadan North, Ogbomoso North, Ibarapa Central, and Akinyele.

Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso, chairman of the faction loyal to Wike, confirmed the attacks during a telephone conversation, stating that ten people were reportedly injured and several vehicles were vandalized. The violence disrupted the congresses, which were intended to solidify party leadership and organization within the state.

The attacks highlight ongoing tensions within the PDP factions in Oyo State, reflecting broader political struggles.
