Thugs Attack Wike Loyalists During PDP Congress in Oyo

On Saturday, political thugs disrupted the People's Democratic Party (PDP) congresses in Oyo State, targeting loyalists of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The attacks occurred during local government congresses held across the state, which are indicative of the current division within the PDP, aligning Wike's faction against that of the state governor, Seyi Makinde.

Reports indicate that the thugs caused panic and assaulted members, with at least 10 individuals injured and several vehicles vandalized. Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso, chairman of the Wike-aligned faction, confirmed the attacks during a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon.

The violence was reported in multiple local government areas, including Ibadan North, Ogbomoso South, Ibarapa Central, Igboora, and Akinyele. The incidents underscore the growing internal tensions within the PDP in Oyo State, as rival factions continue to battle for control of the party's structure.
