Jigawa State's Education Reform Transforms Nigeria's Narrative

Recent developments in Jigawa State are significantly altering Nigeria's global education narrative. At a conference in San Francisco, data was presented showing that the state has implemented a digital learning program, with a target of full staffing in schools by the end of 2024.

The pupil-teacher ratio improved from 114:1 to 70:1, and daily attendance rose from 39% to 77%. This initiative, led by the JigawaUnit Foundation in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and New Globe, aims to address existing educational challenges.

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa emphasized the need for policy adjustments at the federal level to support these changes.

The reforms are part of a broader strategy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to enhance educational access and quality across Nigeria. Despite these advancements, challenges remain, including the need for consistent monitoring and addressing the learning gap in the country.
