Halima Abubakar Returns to Nollywood After 13-Year Hiatus

Halima Abubakar, a Nollywood actress, publicly announced her return to the film industry after a 13-year absence caused by a prolonged illness, which she attributes to divine intervention. Speaking at a thanksgiving program in Lagos on Saturday, she expressed gratitude for her recovery and shared her journey.

Abubakar stated her intention to concentrate on producing faith-based films that inspire people rather than glorify rituals. She emphasized the need for unity and mutual support within the Nigerian film industry, highlighting a lack of love, empathy, and trust among practitioners.

Queen Belemzi, who addressed the gathering, praised Abubakar's recovery and called for genuine support within Nollywood. Corneliu Udofia, a publicist and director at the Actor Guild Nigeria (AGN) Lagos State chapter, organized the event to celebrate Abubakar's recovery.

Funmilayo Mari Edward, chairperson of AGN Lagos State chapter, congratulated Abubakar and encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their faith.
