Abia Governor Alex Otti Survives Assassination Attempt

Abia Governor Alex Otti revealed details of an assassination attempt on his life that occurred in July 2015 during a speech at the Abia Solemn Assembly and Covenant Renewal Service on September 24. Otti described how armed men stormed his Maitama residence, killing two police officers while searching for him.

He had left the residence after a series of postponed appointments, feeling a divine leading to depart despite pressure from friends to stay. The attackers, numbering around 12, searched his home and the adjoining compound but did not find him.

Otti emphasized that there was no practical reason for his decision to leave, attributing his escape to divine intervention. He also mentioned that friends had urged him to seek protection through secret societies or traditional means.

Otti quoted Joshua 24:15, affirming his commitment to serve the Lord, and stated that the experience has influenced his administration's direction.
