Umo Eno Reveals N10m Monthly Earnings from Akara Business

Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, disclosed that he made not less than N10 million monthly from his akara and bread business prior to his political career. This revelation occurred during the state’s monthly covenant prayer service on Tuesday, where he reflected on his entrepreneurial journey.

Eno started his business by selling akara and bread, which he marketed as “Akara Burger,” and later expanded it into a coffee shop. He noted that the business attracted many customers, particularly workers heading to ExxonMobil in the mornings.

Eno emphasized that his experience taught him valuable lessons about entrepreneurship, customer service, and building a sustainable enterprise. His comments come in the wake of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu's encouragement for Nigerians to consider small-scale businesses as a means to improve their livelihoods.

She had previously announced a N100 million intervention for petty traders in Jigawa State, which included various small businesses beyond just akara selling.
