Governor Eno Earned ₦10m Monthly from Food Business

Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, disclosed that prior to his political career, he earned more than ₦10 million monthly from a food business selling akara and bread. Speaking at the September edition of the state’s monthly covenant prayer service, Eno recounted how he started with selling akara and bread, later innovating to create an “Akara Burger” aimed at morning commuters, particularly employees of ExxonMobil.

He mentioned that the business was strategically located to attract workers seeking breakfast. Eno expanded his operations by adding a coffee shop to meet the demands of his growing customer base.

He emphasized that his business experience was foundational to his entrepreneurial journey before entering politics. His comments have drawn attention, especially in light of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu's earlier remarks encouraging small businesses, which sparked discussions on the viability of such ventures amid Nigeria's economic challenges.
