Adeleke Pays N80bn Pension Debt, Seeks Re-election

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke disclosed that his administration has paid over N80 billion in inherited pension debt and more than two-thirds of the half-salary arrears owed to workers. Speaking at a town hall meeting organized by Arise TV for candidates contesting the August 15 governorship election, Adeleke expressed pride in his administration's achievements over the past four years, particularly in enhancing workers' welfare.

He stated that the state’s finances in 2022 were unable to cover these debts, but with political will, significant issues can be resolved. Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party after winning the governorship election in 2022 as a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, highlighted his administration's accomplishments, including the construction of 350 kilometers of roads, three flyover bridges, and the establishment of the University of Ilesa.

He also raised concerns about the Nigeria Police Force's alleged involvement in the upcoming election and called for enhanced security measures.
