Survivor Escapes Bandit Attack by Pretending Dead

Isaac Dung, a 37-year-old father of three, survived a bandit attack in Rantiya, Plateau State, by pretending to be dead. The incident occurred on a Thursday night when armed bandits, identified as Fulani militia, invaded the village, killing two vigilante operatives and injuring 15 others.

Dung, returning home from work, noticed the bandits on motorcycles and realized he was in danger as they began shooting. Unable to run due to a bad leg, he instinctively fell to the ground and pretended to be dead.

He overheard the bandits declaring him dead before they left the scene. After ensuring they were gone, he crawled into the bush and hid for five hours before making his way home.

Dung credited his survival instinct for saving his life during the terrifying ordeal.
