Ibori Mourns Tukur, Praises His Contributions to Nigeria

Former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, expressed his condolences following the death of Bamanga Tukur, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who died at the age of 90. Tukur, who previously served as the governor of the old Gongola State and as Minister of Industries during General Sani Abacha's military regime, is set to be buried in Yola on Sunday.

In his tribute, Ibori described Tukur as a patriotic Nigerian with a wealth of experience and significant contributions to both politics and business. Ibori recalled Tukur's decision to withdraw from partisan politics at the age of 80 to allow younger leaders to emerge, highlighting Tukur's role in his own political journey as a Local Government Coordinator in Tukur's 1992 presidential campaign.

Ibori emphasized that Tukur's death is a considerable loss for Nigeria, especially as the country approaches another general election, where his wise counsel will be missed.
