El-Rufai's Son Accuses ICPC of Rights Violations

Mohammed Bello, a member of the House of Representatives for Kaduna North, raised concerns regarding the treatment of his father, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Bello alleged that on May 15, 2026, ICPC officials prevented El-Rufai's personal doctor from entering the facility to discuss medical test results, despite a court order granting him unrestricted access to medical care.

Furthermore, Bello claimed that El-Rufai's wife, Aichat, was denied the delivery of food to her husband, with security personnel informing her that food deliveries were no longer permitted after 6:30 PM. Bello condemned these actions as violations of El-Rufai's constitutional rights and described the ICPC's conduct as an assault on the rule of law.

He demanded that the ICPC comply with the court's directives and respect the rights of the former governor.
