Igbo Youth Leaders Urge Federal Appointments for South-East

During the Igbo Youth Leaders Stakeholders Convention held in Awka on Friday, leaders from seven Igbo-speaking states voiced their support for President Bola Tinubu. They called for more federal appointments for young people from the South-East and acknowledged the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) as a significant step towards addressing regional development challenges.

Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu commended the federal government's ongoing infrastructure projects in the region and highlighted the importance of integrating young Igbo professionals into national governance. A communiqué issued at the end of the convention stressed the necessity of transparency and accountability within the SEDC to build public trust.

The group also urged the intensification of security measures in the South-East to restore peace and create a conducive environment for business. Mark Okoy, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SEDC, rejected calls for his removal, asserting that stability is crucial for the commission's growth.
