IGP Requests Warrant to Produce PFIPC DG in Hearing

On Wednesday, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu informed the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the inclusion of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) in the 2026 Appropriation Act that they must obtain a reproduction warrant from a competent court to produce Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew, the council's Director-General, who is currently in custody. This request was communicated through a police delegation led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi during a hearing chaired by Hon.

Yusuf Gagdi in Abuja. Disu explained that Prince Adeniyi's detention is based on a subsisting court order, and only a reproduction warrant would allow his appearance before the committee.

Hon. Gagdi clarified that the police were not refusing to comply but were constrained by the existing court order.

The hearing also included testimonies from Joshua Luka and Bello Abubakar regarding the processing of official correspondence linked to the PFIPC.
