Ihezuo Joins Super Falcons for WAFCON, Skips Pre-season

Chinwendu Veronica Ihezuo, a striker for Pachuca in Liga MX Femenil, has decided to skip her pre-season training with the club to join the Super Falcons' camp ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which kicks off on July 26 in Rabat, Morocco. Ihezuo believes it is her obligation to support the national team as they prepare for their first group match against debutants Malawi.

The 29-year-old, born on April 30, 1997, in the Ajegunle area of Lagos, has previously played for clubs such as Pelican Star, Delta Queens, and Henan Jianye. She is determined to help the Super Falcons defend their title and achieve their goal of becoming African champions for the 11th time by the end of the tournament on August 16.

Despite facing recent injury challenges, Ihezuo remains optimistic about her contributions to the team and their chances of retaining their World Cup ticket.
