Alvan Ikoku VC Praises FG for Education Support and Upgrades

The Vice-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its interventions in salaries and infrastructure. The university, which currently offers 45 bachelor degree programs across six faculties, plans to expand its course offerings by 20 programs by July 2025.

Recent renovations, including a significant upgrade of hostel facilities, have been completed for the first time in 15 years, funded by TETFund. The upgrades include modern plumbing, electrical rewiring, and new kitchen and laundry facilities.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of staff welfare, noting that salaries are paid regularly, which motivates the teaching staff. The university also celebrated student achievements, including Ebubenna Clinton Amaefula, who won second prize in a recent quiz competition.

Governor Hope Uzodimma was acknowledged for his support of higher education in Imo State, reinforcing the university's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.
