Imo CP Deploys Operatives to Combat Insecurity in Owerri

CP Audu Garba Bosso, the Commissioner of Police for Imo State Command, has ordered the immediate deployment of police operatives to Owerri West and Oguta Local Government Areas in response to increasing security concerns, particularly incidents of kidnapping and other criminal activities. The deployment includes areas such as Ejemekuru, Ogbakwu, Izombe, Irete, Umuguma, Okuku, Ndegwu, and Amakohia-Ubi.

The Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Violent Crime Response Unit are involved, working alongside community vigilantes to enhance intelligence-led operations aimed at apprehending criminal elements. This action follows the tragic attack and killing of two young persons in Irete on September 14, 2026, by suspected armed bandits.

CP Bosso condemned this incident and instructed relevant units to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. He emphasized the importance of vigilance and professionalism among the deployed personnel and reassured residents of the police's commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the affected areas.
