Six Imo Police Officers Detained Over Assault Video

The Imo State Police Command has detained six officers following an incident of alleged assault captured in a viral video. The officers, identified as Inspector Ugochukwu Ib, Inspector Nwachi Chimezi, Sergeant Ugoezuhu Austin, Corporal Michael Obi, Corporal Ebuka Onwuegbu, and Corporal Amo Sunni, were seen repeatedly beating a victim while one officer held him down.

The incident occurred in the Ikeduru Local Government Area and has drawn significant public attention. DSP Henri Okoy disclosed that a preliminary review led to the identification of the officers involved.

CP Audu Garba Bosso has ordered a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the misconduct. The Imo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to professional conduct and respect for citizens' rights, emphasizing that the actions of the officers do not reflect the standards of the Nigeria Police Force.
