Imole Campaign Council Warns of Political Oppression Ahead of Elections

The Imole Campaign Council has alerted both the nation and the international community regarding an unsettled political climate in Nigeria. They have specifically notified the Inspector-General of Police, Mr.

Tunji Disu, about the planned unlawful arrests of 46 leaders from the Accord party and prominent opposition figures by the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the lead-up to the elections. During a press conference, Deputy Director-General Alimi Kolapo, who is also the Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment, expressed alarm over credible security reports indicating a coordinated "hit list" targeting these individuals for arbitrary arrest and harassment.

Kolapo accused the APC of using the police as a tool of oppression rather than protection. The Council has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Taofeek Akinyemi or that he be charged in a competent court if any legitimate allegations exist against him, which they assert do not.
