Adeleke’s Campaign Urges Fairness in Osun Election

At a press conference in Abuja, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the spokesman for the Imole Campaign Council, emphasized the significance of the Osun governorship election, stating it would influence perceptions of the 2027 general elections. He called for a conducive environment for a free, fair, and credible election, urging both the Federal Government and the international community to ensure the election reflects the people's will.

The campaign council has formally written to the Inspector-General of Police regarding security concerns and alleged police partisanship in Osun State. Olajengbesi highlighted the importance of international observation, mentioning a complaint submitted to the British High Commission about the political situation in Osun.

He noted the need for vigilance from civil society organizations to ensure a credible electoral process. Olufemi Franklin, representing the Coalition of Public Interest Lawyers, echoed these sentiments, stating that the upcoming election is a litmus test for Nigeria's democracy and the integrity of the electoral process.
