Court Stops Nasarawa JUSUN from Proceeding with Strike

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), located in Abuja, has granted an interim order on Tuesday that restrains members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Nasarawa State from initiating a planned industrial action. This order was issued following an ex-parte application submitted by Isaac Danladi, the Nasarawa State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

The application was prompted by a seven-day ultimatum issued by JUSUN, which warned that judicial activities would cease if their demands were not met. The court's restraining order will remain effective until the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

JUSUN's demands include the implementation of a 40 percent Peculiar Allowance approved by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), full financial autonomy for the state judiciary, and a 58.1 percent salary increase. Additionally, the union seeks the implementation of outstanding staff conversions and promotions.
