Nasarawa University ASUU Begins Indefinite Strike Over Dues

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) has commenced an indefinite strike over alleged unpaid entitlements totaling over N3 billion. This decision was announced by the union's chairman, Dr Zubairu Loko, following an emergency meeting held on Monday in Keffi.

Dr Loko emphasized that union members would not resume classes until all outstanding entitlements are paid. He indicated that this action aligns with resolutions made during the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of ASUU in July.

The chairman accused both the university management and the Nasarawa state government of being insensitive to the welfare of the union's members. The outstanding arrears include Earned Academic Allowance, consequential adjustments from the implementation of national government policies, and approved salary increments for university lecturers.
