INEC Meeting in Osun Disrupted by Political Tensions

A stakeholders' meeting organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Osun State governorship was marked by rowdy behavior, prompting increased security from the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps (NCDSC). The unrest began when a representative of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke attempted to speak but was interrupted by supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Unable to deliver his message verbally, he chose to submit the party's position in writing to the INEC Chairman. As tensions rose, police and NCDSC personnel surrounded the high table to maintain order.

The situation culminated in members of the Accord Party walking out of the meeting. Additionally, the spokesperson for the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) criticized Osun State Commissioner of Police Gotan Ibrahim for failing to ensure adequate security during the event.
