INEC Awards Certificates to June 20 By-Election Winners

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented certificates of return to winners of the by-elections held on June 20, 2026, across Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo, Kano, and Kebbi states. The presentation was made on behalf of INEC Chairman Prof.

Joash Amupitan by Mr. Mai Agbamuch Mbu, who congratulated the winners and urged them to serve their constituencies diligently.

Notable results included the re-election of Biodun Oyebanji as the governor of Ekiti State, marking him as the first governor to be re-elected consecutively since 1999. The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victories in several constituencies, including Ikeja Asogwa in Enugu North Senatorial District and Rabiu Garba Aiki in Zuru State Constituency, while the People's Democratic Party (PDP) retained the Rivers South East Senatorial District seat with Olaka Nwogu as the winner.

The elections were marked by allegations of electoral irregularities and voter intimidation.
