INEC Awards Certificates of Return to Bye-Election Winners

On Tuesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented Certificates of Return to the winners of recent bye-elections conducted across Nigeria. INEC Chairman, Mai Agbamuch Mbu, emphasized the importance of fair representation and the electoral mandate to serve the people.

The ceremony took place at INEC headquarters in Abuja, where Mbu congratulated the successful candidates and reminded them of their responsibility to represent their constituents effectively. Among the beneficiaries were Prof.

Franci Dayo Faduyil, who won the Ondo South senatorial district bye-election but was unable to attend the ceremony, and Olaka Nwogu Johnson, who emerged victorious in the Rivers South East senatorial district election. Rabiu Shuaibu was recognized as the winner of the Dawakin Kudu Warawa federal constituency election in Kano State.

Mbu also disclosed that Certificates of Return were presented for the Zuru state constituency election and the Ekiti state governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026. He urged electoral officials to justify public confidence in the electoral process.
