INEC Unveils Final List of 2027 Presidential Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the final list of presidential candidates and their running mates for the January 2027 general elections in Abuja on Saturday. The list, signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, includes candidates from 18 political parties, with 16 men and 2 women.

Notable candidates include incumbent President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC). Other candidates include Adewole Adebayo (SDP), Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde (APM), Donald Duke (PRP), and Sunday Chibuzo Okereke (LP).

The two female candidates are Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori (NDP) and Nkem Esther Okereke (NRM). INEC also listed 14 male and 4 female vice-presidential candidates, including Peace Egobia Ofordile (APP) and Nafisat Usaku Abubakar (DLA).
