INEC Unveils Final List of Presidential Candidates for 2027

On September 12, 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the final list of presidential candidates for the upcoming election scheduled for January 16, 2027. The list includes President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and Atiku Abubakar from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

INEC's document, signed by Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, indicates that 18 political parties have fielded candidates. Other approved candidates include Rufai Adekunle (AA), Abbas-Bin Aliyu (ADP), Yusuf Kabiru (APP), Sowore Omoyele (AAC), Makinde Oluseyi (APM), Adenuga Sunday (BP), Adebisi Moses Olusola (DLA), Okereke Sunday (LP), and Onor Sandy (PDP).

The youngest candidate is Moses Olusoji Adebisi of DLA, aged 35. The list also includes candidates for the senatorial and House of Representatives elections, with notable figures like Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Hope Uzodimma cleared to participate.

In Kogi State, former governor Yahaya Bello will compete against 12 candidates, including incumbent senator Akpoti Uduaghan Natasha Hadiza.
