INEC Revises Osun Governorship Campaign Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a revision to the campaign timeline for the Osun State governorship election, now set to conclude at midnight on August 13, 2026. This adjustment comes after the election date was moved forward by one week to August 15, 2026.

INEC Chairman, Mohan Kudu Haruna, emphasized the importance of political parties and candidates adhering strictly to the revised timeline, which is in line with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, stating that campaigning must end 24 hours before the election day. The commission reassured stakeholders that this change would not impact any other aspects of the electoral process, which has already been concluded.

INEC remains committed to delivering a free, fair, credible, and inclusive election in Osun State, urging all political parties to promptly adjust their campaign schedules to meet the new deadline.
